"dansey"

In case you didn't know, Dansey is the new Brangelina. Aunt Lindsey and Uncle Dan are huge celebrities around our house...especially in the eyes of their #1 fan. They fall somewhere just behind Buzz Lightyear and Woody on Tate's list of really important people...so, they're kind of a big deal.

For Christmas last year, they custom-designed and printed an awesome coupon book for us. Our coupons include:

- 3 free weeknight babysits
- 3 free weekend babysits
- 2 free overnight babysits
- 3 free diaper changes by Dan
- 3 free feedings by Lindsey
- 1 Buckhead Life Restaurant gift card

AND, they gave all of this to us even knowing that we were having another baby! So, you are probably drawing the same conclusion that we did - that they are either really thoughtful and generous...or completely crazy!

Last week was Dan and Lindsey's first experience with both boys on their own and I left them with the special instruction to just keep everyone alive between the hours of 6:30- 10:30pm. Not surprisingly, they did a little more than that. They got Brady fed, pajama'ed and down for the night by 7pm, and then spent the rest of the evening taking orders from playing with Tate by inventing activities such as the "teddy-bear" (pictured below) and the robot dance.

Tate and Brady are lucky to grow up with such a fun aunt and uncle and I look forward to redeeming the rest of our coupons over the next five months. And the best part is that they no longer need to worry about what to get us for Christmas anymore... we'll gladly accept our annual coupon book for the next 10 years! :)

hiking

One of my new year's resolutions was to do a better job of posting regularly on this blog. It's February 19. How am I doing??

At 22 months, Tate is becoming quite the little man. His growing vocabulary and budding grasp of the world around him is equal parts amazing and entertaining. Every day he makes us laugh with things like..."Mommy, you're a big boy!!" or "No sing, Mommy, shhhhh" (during an attempted lullaby) or holding up his hand and telling us "I'll be right back" and thinking he's about to walk out the front door by himself.

He can count to 10, mostly say his ABC's and is starting to learn his colors. He recognizes red the easiest and will randomly guess bee-you, green, wipe and yewow for the others. He has zero patience for tv commercials or traffic lights ("MOVE!!") or anything that involves waiting, but on the positive side, says "please" and "thank you", "bless you" if someone sneezes and will automatically give you a hug and say "I sorry" if he knows he's done something wrong.

He is very sweet-natured, extremely outgoing and wants to be friends with everybody....usually waving and saying "hi" and "bye" (loudly) to anyone we see in public. He's the sheriff of his class in school, making sure all of the other kids follow the rules and stay in line. "Case, get down!" or "AJ, no! Say sorry, hug!" or "No Parkar, Cooper's milk!" When I get him in the afternoons, he chats away about his day from the backseat and laughs to himself as he recounts the day's activities...most of it is incoherent, but I love that he enjoys school and has such a happy time with his friends and teachers.

He's a great helper around the house, too. He's good about picking up his toys, will put trash in the trashcan without being asked, and likes to help with sweeping, vacuuming and dusting. I'm hoping his helpful attitude continues once the baby arrives in just 6 short weeks! Speaking of, I should mention that we've changed the baby's name since I last posted. Keith and I grew tired of explaining the spelling/ pronunciation of Bayer and decided over the holidays to go with our other top option, Brady. So the official, final, Ireallymeanit name is James Brady Golden. (if you look back at my "What's in a Name" post, you'll notice I broke one of my own rules of using a name on the top 100 list. But since it's #93, I think we can let it slide)

So, I think that pretty much summarizes what we've been up to.

Now to finally get to the title of this post, here are a few pictures from our hiking adventure with Aunt Lindsey last weekend at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Such a fun day!

happy halloween

I've never been a big fan of Halloween, but it's now one of my new favorite holidays. Tate was a pro at trick-or-treating. Well...he was after the first house where he ran right into our new neighbor's living room. :)

Several neighbors gathered at Trent and Megan's and headed out together to trick-or-treat. Our herd included 21 adults, 10 kids under the age of 3, 1 dog, 2 wagons and 1 cooler of beer (guess whose). Surprisingly, we weren't the only group of this size roaming the neighborhood - there were people everywhere.

Lindsey, Dan and Pop joined in the festivities, and Lindsey was nice to be our videographer for the night. She caught some cute moments, as seen below. And speaking of Lindsey, Halloween was a milestone - Tate actually attempted to say her name for the first time. He usually just laughs and punches her. Whatever he called her was indecipherable, but it definitely had two syllables, so it counts.

Note: Most of these videos are best viewed when laying down on your right side. Ready?

"Puppy!!"

"Trick-or-Treat!"

"Whatcha got?"

"Hurry!"

"Are you going in there?"

the dancing chronicles

This kid loves to dance. L.O.V.E.S. Uncle Dan graciously plays the guitar for his #1 fan every time we come over and, naturally, a dance party ensues.

Keith captured several short videos from Sunday and I couldn't pick my favorite. So, you get them all. Enjoy!
